Biology SL: Assessments
- Coursework: Bio SL involves conducting a practical investigation or experiment based on a biological concept. Students select a research question and design an experiment to investigate it. They collect data, analyze results, and draw conclusions. A written report (typically 6-12 pages) documenting the entire process is required. The IA is internally assessed by the teacher and externally moderated by the IB.
- Internal: The Internal Assessment for SL students involves a practical investigation or experimental work based on the course content. The IA assesses students' ability to design, conduct, and analyze biological investigations.
- External: SL students sit for written exams that consist of multiple-choice, short-answer, and extended-response questions. Students are expected to have a deep understanding of biological concepts, practical skills, and the ability to apply their knowledge to solve real-world problems.
